  • New Audi A3 Sedan to see an Indian launch in 2012

The next big launch from Audi for the year 2012 will be the new Audi A3 Sedan and recent reports indicate that the car will be going into production sometime later on next year. And India will be one of the first markets where the new Audi A3 sedan will be introduced once the production version of the new sedan is officially unveiled in 2012.

Apart from the A3 sedan, Audi is also working on a hatchback version of the A3. Both the new variants will be sporting a sharp new look for Audi and have been teased in detail over the past year. Apart from the new A3, Audi will also be coming out with a hybrid version of the A8, the 2012 Audi A8 e-tron. And then we have the long awaited facelift for the Audi R8 supercar which is also due in 2012.

Coming back to the Audi A3, the automaker will be showcasing the electric hybrid concept of the A3 at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo. Revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year, the Audi A3 e-tron concept uses a hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.4-litre, 210 PS TFSI petrol engine and a 27 PS electric motor powered by lithium ion batteries. All of this is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch S tronic transmission enabling the Audi A3 e-tron hitting 6.8-second acceleration runs and a top speed of 232 km/h.
