2012 Porsche 911 (991) available in India at a price tag of Rs. 96.97 lakh
Porsche is yet to officially launch the new 991- generation Porsche 911. But, the car has already been featured on the Porsche India website complete with prices. The new Porsche 911 will be available in India at a price starting from Rs 96.97 lakh ex-showroom Delhi for the Carrera and Rs 1.13 Cr for the more powerful Carrera S. The global launch of the new Porsche 911 is scheduled to be held at the Frankfurt motor show later this month. However, the iconic sports car maker has already revealed the car ahead of its launch.
The new Porsche 911 is considerably longer and wider than the previous generation model. The 911 Carrera is powered by Porsche’s 3.4 litre flat-six cylinder engine with 350 horsepower and 390 torques enough to catapult the new sports coupe from 0-100 kph in 4.8 sec. With the optional PDK automatic box the car can accelerate to 100 kph in just 4.4 sec (Sport+ mode). The more powerful Carrera S gets 400 horsepower from its 3.8 litre engine and 440 Nm of torque.
The Carrera S does the dash from 0-100 kph in 4.1 sec in PDK Sport + and 4.5 sec with the new 7-speed manual transmission. Both cars, do speeds in excess of 250 kph. The Carrera will do 289 kph while the Carrera S can top 304 kph. The 7-speed manual gearbox is a new addition to the Porsche. The focus has been on cutting emissions and green house gasses this time and Porsche engineers have managed to bring down overall consumption as well as CO2 emissions from the new car.
The designers at Porsche have also been successful at coming up with a new model without ruining the iconic shape of the car that has been the trademark of the brand for almost half a century. The interior has also been improved with design cues take from the Carrera GT hypercar and the Panamera. The car might be featured on the website already but, expect deliveries to take a while.
