Earlier this month the Red Bull Racing team wowed spectators at a free event in Milton Keynes. The winning Formula One team careered down the streets near their factory in the town. The event attracted approximately 60,000 people on the day, as the council closed off the main roads on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Google has successfully patented a “landing strip” technology for its self-driving cars, providing a method for the cars to automatically slip into autonomous mode and find parking spots. Officially called Transitioning a Mixed-mode Vehicle to Autonomous Mode this mouthful of words means that Google now owns the intellectual property for how a vehicle switches between being driven by a human being and a computer.

Finally some positive news for petrol vehicle owners as the Government of India and the state-run oil companies could cut petrol prices by as much as Rs. 2 per litre from Wednesday, November 16th, 2011. The news comes after state-run retailers announced on 12 November that they may cut petrol prices from 16 November, the first cut in nearly three years.
