Earlier this month the Red Bull Racing team wowed spectators at a free event in Milton Keynes. Google has successfully patented a “landing strip” technology for its self-driving cars, providing a method for the cars to automatically slip into autonomous mode and find parking spots. Officially called Transitioning a Mixed-mode Vehicle to Autonomous Mode this mouthful of words means that Google now owns the intellectual property for how a vehicle switches between being driven by a human being and a computer.

Finally some positive news for petrol vehicle owners as the Government of India and the state-run oil companies could cut petrol prices by as much as Rs. 2 per litre from Wednesday, November 16th, 2011.
