2012 new Ford EcoSport Spy Shots and a website leak from india.ford.com
Its no big secret that Ford India will be unveiling the all new Ford EcoSport compact at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo or the fact that a launch in India will soon follow the unveiling. But, the mystery still remained as we were yet to get our hands on pictures of the production version of the new Ford EcoSport. Well most of that has been cleared thanks to a bunch of spy shots of the EcoSport by WorldCarFans and a link on Ford India’s website spotted by IndianAutosBlog reader Mallik Kslikiri.
First came the link on Ford India’s website which we luckily managed to get a screen shot of before Ford India took it down. Glimpses of the Ford EcoSport from two different angles and a promising bit of information showing the Ecoboost engine, a down-sized direct-injected, turbocharged petrol engine that provides the outputs of a 1.6-liter engine while retaining the fuel economy numbers of a frugal 1-liter engine. Check out the screenshot below :
Next up the line was a bunch of pictures of a test mule of the Ford EcoSport posted on WCF. Though fully camouflaged, the tailgate-mounted spare wheel gives it all away. A quick fact here, small-car regulations don’t count the spare tyre in the length of a car and Ford has taken maximum advantage of this rule when designing the new EcoSport.
Following the debut and Indian launch in January, the 2012 Ford EcoSport will eventually hit global markets under the “One Ford” global product strategy.
