Hyundai Motor India Ltd., in a bid to strengthen its presence in the small car segment, is working hard to increase its portfolio of diesel powered hatches in the country. Hyundai’s cars in India positioned below the i20 (Hyundai i10 and Eon) currently do not come with a diesel option and have been losing out to compacts with a diesel option like the Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, Renault Pulse, Toyota Etios Liva and Maruti Swift. Hyundai India inorder to boost sales of the new Sonata Fluidic is offering a Samsung Galaxy Note free with the sedan. The new Sonata Fluidic hasn’t been quite much a success story in India owing to the fact that it does not have a diesel option under its hood. Hyundai’s D-segment sedan, the new Hyundai Elantra Fluidic has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs. 12.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base 1.8 VTVT S variant.
