2012 Hyundai Elantra bookings started; Launch date scheduled for the 13th of August

Hyundai dealers across India have started accepting bookings for the soon to be launched new 2012 Hyundai Elantra. The official launch is scheduled for the 13th of August, meanwhile you can book the new Elantra by paying a nominal amount of Rs 25,000.

Staying true to our previous predictions, the new Hyundai Elantra will be launched in India in both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol powerplant will be a 1.8 Liter unit running on direct injection with 147 Bhp of peak power and 181 Nm of peak torque.  The diesel engine will be the highly refined 1.6 Liter common rail turbocharged unit borrowed from the Verna Fluidic. This engine, delivering 126 Bhp-260 Nm will be offered on the base version of the Elantra. Hyundai has plans to launch seven variants of the Elantra – 3 petrol and 4 diesel.

Moving on to the interiors and features of the new Hyundai Elantra, ESP, six airbags, powered and ventilated seats, dual-zone air-conditioning, audio control for rear seat passengers, cruise control and even heated mirrors are all expected to be part of the package for India. The base variant of the new Elantra, which will come with a six speed manual gearbox, is expected to have twin airbags and ABS as standard, along with 16 inch alloy wheels.

2012 new Hyundai Elantra Interiors

Hyundai has already kick started promotional activities for the new Elantra building up excitement as well as an audience/fan base for the vehicle. Prices are expected to start at around Rs. 13 lakh for the base variant going all the way up to Rs. 18 lakh for the top end version. The new Hyundai Elantra will be positioned in the Premium Sedan D-Segment and will be taking on the likes of the Toyota Corolla, Chevrolet Cruze, Skoda Laura, Volkswagen Jetta, Renault Fluence and others.
