2012 new Hyundai Elantra : A quick look and brochure scans
The all new 2012 Hyundai Elantra will mark Hyundai’s re-entry into the D-segment sedan segment, a space that it has left vacant ever since the previous generation Elantra sedan went out of production a few years ago. Here is a quick look at the specifications, expected features as well as a couple of brochure scans of the new 2012 Hyundai Elantra.
The Elantra Fluidic, also known as the Avante, in many markets follows Hyundai’s Fluidic design philosophy, to end up looking flashy and stylish which is eons apart from the previous generation Elantra. The car will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a direct injected 1.8 Liter engine that uses variable valve timing capable of producing a peak power of 147 Bhp at 6,500 rpm and 181 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, clearly the most powerful petrol unit in the D-segment. This engine is being introduced for the first time by Hyundai in India. The diesel counterpart however, is the same 1.6 Liter turbo diesel unit that also does duty on the Hyundai Verna.
Moving on inside, the interiors are a step ahead from that of the Verna, which itself comes with well appointed interiors with soft touch plastics and leather abounding the top end model. According to the initial reports trickling in, the Elantra Fluidic features a soft suspension set up, which makes it a car that won’t be the swiftest around tight corners but one that will reward you with a good ride quality suiting India’s less than perfect road conditions. Safety wise, the car comes with ESP, 6 airbags, ABS and hill hold control. Cruise control is another convenience bit that could suit the fast improving Indian highways.
