Mahindra XUV500 price in India hiked by as much as Rs. 55,000
Mahindra have done the inevitable. When the Mahindra XUV500 was first launched at an introductory price of Rs. 10.8 lakh, they had maintained that a hike in price was bound to follow sooner or later. With bookings for the Mahindra XUV500 set to reopen in January, Mahindra have hiked the price of the XUV500 in India by as much as Rs. 55,000 for the top end variant.
The base variant, the XUV500 W6 will see a price hike of Rs. 30,000 while the XUV500 W8-FWD variant’s price will be hiked by Rs. 50,000. The top end variant, the Mahindra XUV500 W8-AWD will now be available for an additional Rs. 55,000. Also, for all those who have already booked the vehicle but are yet to receive their XUV500s, Mahindra would charge 50% of the actual price increase at the time of delivery.
The Mahindra XUV500 was a big hit from the time it was first announced. With killer looks, above average features list and a very competitive price tag, the XUV500 managed to bag 8,000 bookings within a fortnight of its launch. The main rival for the XUV500 in the Indian market has been the Tata Aria although the higher price tag of the Aria clearly helped the XUV500 in gaining an edge over the Aria. Even the introduction of a cheaper 4×2 variant coupled with a limited period anniversary offer have not managed to revive sales to the expected mark for the Aria.
