Maruti new Ritz 2012 : What all changes to expect
Following the launch of the facelifted new Ritz (Splash) in Europe and Germany, it won’t be long before Maruti launches the new Ritz in India. As expected the 2012 model of the Ritz will be a mid-life facelift for the model featuring minor interior/exterior changes and adding a few new lighter color options to the range.
First up we have the engines. The new Ritz will be available with two different engine options : 84bhp K-series 1.2-litre petrol and the 74bhp 1.3-litre diesel motors mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Maruti might also drop in an automatic transmission later on just to surprise us since the European version does have that.
Moving on to exterior changes, the new Ritz will be sporting a more aggressive front fascia. The hood has been worked upon leaving a slightly bigger front grille. The fog lamp housing unit has been completely re-designed as well, while the bumper too gets a revision in design. The rear end does not get much in terms of visual treatment.
The interiors of the new Ritz will be slightly revamped along with steering-mounted audio controls, MP3 player, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, electric front windows and keyless entry all forming part of the features list. Two new colors have been included to the lineup – ‘Sparkling Blue Metallic’ and ‘Bison Brown Pearl Metallic.’
It was earlier rumored that Maruti would be launching the new Ritz in India sometime during October – November 2012. But if the ongoing problems at its manufacturing plant in Manesar are not resolved by then, expect the launch to be further delayed. As for the changes in price, the new Ritz should be priced within the Rs. 4.5-6 lakh price bracket (expected).
Stay tuned for more updates.
