2012 Maruti Suzuki SX4 Celebration Edition launched to mark 1 crore domestic sales
One of India’s oldest auto manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki, recently crossed the 10-million(1 Crore) unit mark for car sales in the country. And what better way to commemorate such an event other than launching a special edition vehicle. And that is exactly what Maruti Suzuki India has done by launching the 2012 Maruti Suzuki SX4 Celebration Edition sedan.
The celebration edition of the Maruti Suzuki SX4 sedan comes with many cosmetic additions and changes to distinguish it from the regular model. The car will get a set of decals on its bodywork, but most of the changes are to the interior. The inside door handles and aircon surrounds are now chrome, while there is new upholstery and commemorative floor mats and cushions as well.
There will be no changes under the hood with the 1.6 liter petrol unit producing 104Bhp of peak power and 145Nm of peak torque. The diesel counterpart is a 1.3 liter Multijet diesel unit producing 90Bhp of peak power and 200Nm of peak torque. The SX4 is also available in a CNG version, with the same 1.6 liter petrol engine with the power and torque outputs scaled down to 86Bhp and a peak torque of 122Nm respectively.
The Maruti Suzuki SX4 is the only C-segment offering in the Indian market by the automaker and has been somewhat of a tepid seller. This cosmetic upgrade perhaps is a move to infuse some buyer interest for the SX4. Exact price of the new SX4 celebration Edition is yet to be announced.
