Mitsubishi Pajero Sport launched in India at a price tag of Rs. 23.53 lakh

A few weeks back, we had dropped the word that Mitsubishi India will be launching the new 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in India shortly. And true to our word, Hindustan Motors has launched the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport SUV, priced at Rs. 23.53 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

The new 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is currently available in only one variant and powering the vehicle is a 2477cc, inline, four-cylinder common-rail diesel motor that produces 175 bhp at 4000 rpm and an equally impressive 40.4 kgm@2000-2500 rpm. The 4D56 common rail diesel engine now features a variable geometry turbocharger to boost power and torque output and is mated to Mitsubishi’s renowned Super Select 4WD and a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Pajero Sport features include 17 inch-alloy, projector headlamps with self leveling, chrome door handles, rear parking sensor, driver and passenger-side airbags, ABS & EBD with brake boosters, rear wash wipers and defogger and will be available in choice of six body colors. On the inside, the SUV has leather seat covers, leather wrapped gearknob and steering wheel with audio controls, Music player with USB and multi-info display, 60:40 split central row and 50:50 split third row for extra space.

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport at a price tag of Rs. 23.53 lakh is positioned a tad higher than its competition when it comes to price. The reason for this is that the car comes via Completely Built Unit (CBU) route from Thailand and attracts high import duties. However by September 2012, Mitsubishi will start with local assembly of the new Pajero Sport from CKD kits resulting in a 15-20% reduction in its price tag.
