2012 new Tata Safari Storm pictures and few details emerge
Tata Motors have been working on a new upgraded Safari for quite some time now. Until now the only little information regarding the new Safari we had were a bunch of camouflaged pictures and a rumor that Tata Merlin would be the name they would christen the new Safari with.
With the 2012 Indian Auto Expo close by more details are emerging about the new Safari. According to recent reports, the new Tata Safari will be going by the name “Tata Safari Storm” and will be officially unveiled at the upcoming 2012 Indian Auto Expo. Major changes will include revamped interiors and cosmetic upgrades.
The new Safari Storm gets new wraparound projector headlamps, a new grille garnished with chrome and a new front bumper with fog lamps. Other visual upgrades include Aria like Dual exhausts and a chrome strip on the rear hatch. The interiors adorn wooden inserts and are quite spruced up to give a neat and clean look. A minor setback will be the lack of steering mounted audio controls which has of recent become a standard feature among all new SUV’s in this segment.

Powering the new Safari Storm will be the same 2.2 Liter DiCOR engine producing 140 Bhp of peak power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Transmission will be handled by a reworked 5 speed manual transmission with the four wheel drive option coupled with the low ratio being made available on the top end variant of the Storm.
Safety features on board the new Tata Safari Storm will undoubtedly suffice the buyers with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), ESP and Electronic brakeforce Distribution (EBD) all on offer. Apart from the before mentioned features, the new Safari Storm will also be sporting hill descent control and six airbags to take things up to a whole new level.
Exact pricing details or market positioning is not yet known. There have also been rumors that Tata might position the new Safari Storm above the current Safari keeping both models on sale in the Indian market. This is however to be confirmed by Tata.
