Tata Sumo Gold re-launched in India at a price tag of Rs. 5.23 lakh
Tata Motors, India’s largest selling automotive company has re-launched a new version of its popular workhorse, the Tata Sumo Gold MPV in India. The new Sumo Gold MPV gets a few minor visual upgrades along with a new range of powertrains.
Tata Motors Vice President Commercial, R Ramakrishnan said, “The SUV is a result of extensive consumer studies and field tests and designed to fulfil various requirements, long-awaited by the new generation customer…..With 14.7 kmpl mileage, the Tata Sumo Gold is conceived and designed for the young customer looking for a stylish, new-age vehicle that is powerful and can take on any terrain with ease. It will change the face of entry level SUVs in India,”.
The biggest change for the new Tata Sumo Gold comes under the hood, the first being the 2956cc CR4 Turbo-BS4 engine that delivers an output of 85Ps @ 3000rpm and torque of 250Nm @ 1000 to 2000rpm, with mileage of 14.7 kmpl. Second up the line is the Di Turbo BS3 which is a 2956cc engine generating an output of 70PS @ 3000rpm and torque of 225Nm @ 1600 to 2000rpm and delivers a mileage of 14.3kmpl.
Coming to the visual changes, the new Tata Sumo Gold gets a brand new front end, replete with new headlamps, a bumper, a chrome insert on the grille, a new grille design and fog lamps. Moving on inside, the dashboard sees a total redesign to bring a more upmarket feel. Cupholders and a factory fitted music system are just two of the many changes that the Sumo Gold’s dashboard sees. Other newly added features include a rear wiper and rear folding jump seats.
The 3 liter CR will be available in four variants : GX, EX, LX and CX while the 3 Liter TCIC engine gets three variants : EX, LX and CX. Tata is also offering a warranty of 3 years or 1,00,000km for non commercial buyers while commercial buyers will be getting a 2 year, 75,000 km warranty.
