Under the hood of the 2012 Mercedes Benz M-Class will be three different engine options, the base ML250 will be powered by a 2.1-liter diesel four-cylinder, rated at 204 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, while the ML350 Bluetec uses Merc’s revised 3.0-liter diesel V6, good for 258 hp and 457 lb-ft. The gas-powered ML350 BlueEfficiency uses the direct-injected 3.5-liter V6 now found in the C- and E-Class vehicles, generating 306 hp and 273 lb-ft in this application. All three engines will be mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Moving to the interior of the 2012 M Class – also shows various updates, including a new leather upholstery, a new steering wheel with wood inserts, and a range of other trim parts. the instrument panel builds on the M-Class’ heritage yet takes off in a more upscale direction, combining the horizontal orientation seen in recent Mercedes-Benz sedans with a so-called ‘power dome’ in the middle—all made cohesive with gently sculpted, swooping lines that curve around it as a gentle framework.
