Rising fuel prices have forced many car buyers to turn towards cheaper options like electric cars. However the lack of knowledge and proper support for existing models have been a major cause of concern for electric car manufacturers in India. At present, the only electric car company that has managed to make a stand in the Indian automotive scene in REVA, with the REVAi being its most popular model till date in India.
The company is now looking forward to overcome the flaws of the REVAi by launching the next generation REVA NXR in India. The all electric REVA NXR will be officially unveiled at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo in Delhi next year.
Coming to the car itself, the REVA NXR has been totally restyled and looks a lot better than the REVAi. The REVA NXR has a seating capacity of four and the maximum distance covered in a single charge has been doubled to 160 kms compared to 80 kms of the REVAi. Another noteworthy fact is that the REVA NXR has a top speed of 104 km\hr.
The Reva NXR is likely to be equipped with many advanced features like, keyless operation, digital display, Dual charge ports and SMS alerts. It is likely to be powered with a new lithium-ion battery. The Reva NXR will not only be bigger and roomier, but is likely to come with a better finish of the interiors.
At present although the price structure for the REVA NXR in India has not yet been revealed, we expect REVA to price the NXR somewhere along the Rs. 5 lakh range which might turn out to be the game changer in the hatchback segment in India. Stay tuned for more updates.
