Volvo India launches entry level D3 variants for S60, S80 and XC60
Volvo India has added a new entry level diesel variant, called D3, to the S60 and S80 sedans and the XC60 SUV in India.Volvo by bringing in the new cheaper variants has managed to re-position the vehicles quite competitively and is also offering a Rs. 70,000 inaugural discount on all the three D3 diesel engined models.
The new D3 variant comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of churning out a peak power of 163 Bhp while peak torque comes in at 400 Nm. The engine is mated to a six speed automatic transmission and also comes with an all wheel drive system in the XC60.The new D3 diesel engine has a fuel economy of 18.5 km/l.
Premium features like leather upholstery, emergency automatic braking system, traction control system, roll stability control, whiplash protection system, side impact protection system, turn with steering headlights etc. all come as standard features.
The S60 is Volvo’s key model to expand its sales volume. The Swedish company has relatively been a dormant player as the premium car market is dominated by the three German brands: Mercedes-Benz, Audi and the BMW. This new move by Volvo is part of it’s plans of capturing 15 per cent market share in Indian luxury car segment by 2020.

- Volvo S60 D3 diesel : Rs. 23.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
- Volvo S80 D3 diesel : Rs. 31.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
- Volvo XC60 D3 diesel : Rs. 33.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
